Location
This was taken in my living room in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan, Canada. I am an amateur photographer, only been taking pictures for a few months.Time
Late evening, me and my wife were watching a movie. I was not planning on a photoshoot, I was just sitting down looking at my son's cat, Papyrus. Until he noticed a moth and started hunting. So I decided to follow him. It was very dark in the room. In this picture he is standing on the back of a recliner starring at his target.Lighting
We shut the TV off, I turned on a simple floor lamp, turned the light away from the general area Papyrus was hunting his moth. It was very dark for shooting a moving cat. Only a few photo turned out.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Canon Powershoot SX-540-HS. This is my first Camera. I purchased it 7 months ago. I had never even consider photography before. Me and my wife went to purchase a camera for my first son's birthday. We found him a good waterproof camera at a reasonable price. I had to try it first, never give a present without testing it.... I fell in love instantly, went back and purchased one for myself.Inspiration
This photo is really spur of the moment. He is just such a good looking cat. When he started hunting his moth, I figured I should try and see if I come up with something good. I was quite amazed when I first saw the results.Editing
The only post-processing I do is a general color level adjustment and a sharpening. This is true for all my photo as those are the only tools I learned to use. I like taking pictures, and I find that those two adjustment bring the picture closer to what I was seeing. Less is more.In my camera bag
Honestly I don't have a bag. Not yet at least. I just started about 7 months ago, I own the camera, a protective bag, 1 tripod and a mini tripod. The first thing that will go in my bag when I get one will be equipment to help take better macro pictures.Feedback
Never assume it is too dark to take a photo. While most of them may not turn out, the ones that do will be amazing.
