Behind The Lens

Location

I took this one at watershed park in Edwardsville IL. It was just after a maternity shoot and I had a few minutes to play around before sunset.

Time

Right at dusk. Just before the sun went down.

Lighting

The light behind the plant is a reflection of the sun off the lake behind.

Equipment

This one was taken on my older camera. It was a cannon rebel T3I. It's been awhile, so I'm not sure what lense I used.

Inspiration

Oh geeze, I don't know. I took a few that night. I was just enjoying taking advantage of good natural light and some nice spring weather.

Editing

I shoot everything in raw, so I always process, but this one was minimal. It was a pretty solid shot right off the camera. I'm sure I tweeked the vibrance and contrast a little but that's all.

In my camera bag

I have newer equipment now, this shot is a few years old. Now I shoot on a cannon 6D mark II, and I typically carry 3-5 lenses, some filters, extra batteries, a flash, sometimes a tripod and a rain cover. Depends on the shoot though. I do a lot of nature photography, so sometimes I'll just take my camera and 1 Extra lense and a battery so I can manuver easier.

Feedback

Low aperture and high ISO are your friend. I have pretty stable hands, so I can manage a longer shutter without a tripod sometimes, but you can't get that little bug flying to with a long shutter.
