Behind The Lens

Location

I took this picture at the Gwalior Fort in Gwalior. [Madhya Pradesh, India]. Being an Indian native, this was my first time visiting the fort which I have wanted to do for ages. Among the several beautiful monuments, this one stands too and I couldn't resist capturing it.

Time

It was around 7 am that we reached the fort with high hopes to capture clicks of a lifetime. Walking around trying to find the perfect spot was no hustle in the beautiful area, but this picture was shot on a cloudy day at 10 am

Lighting

I really wanted to highlight the contrast of the beautiful shades of the architecture. I tried several other angles trying to get the perfect lighting. just before giving up on this piece of art, I found the perfect angle which captured its beauty through terrific lighting

Equipment

Being an amateur at photography and filmmaking, what I used was a simple mobile phone camera. Even I was shocked by the result and I pondered that even a simple lens can capture anything that is so beautiful and speaks to the world.

Inspiration

While roaming around the fort, there were so many spots that attracted my eyes and attention, but this one In particular transported me to the history of the place. Even after taking 2 shots from different angles, I wasn't satisfied with what I got. I wanted to highlight the history and the strength this building possesses. I stood there wondering about the perfect shot until I got one. the strength of the whole place and the wish to highlight it can definitely be called an inspiration.

Editing

I did highlight some parts of the monument's bricks and added a hint of contrast to the picture to make it stand out.

In my camera bag

As I am a beginner, I am not experienced enough to answer this question. but what I can do tell is what I would wish to have in my bag as a professional in the future. I would definitely pack my camera and its lenses. Bring a portable charger along, because I cannot stop clicking. I would definitely carry a tripod and a must-have is a water bottle to keep my head cool while rummaging through my brain for ideas

Feedback

Capturing ancient monuments is a task of responsibility as it highlights a culture, a heritage. what I would say is, while capturing these blocks representing history, one should always try to make it look authoritative so that the viewers can emphasise the strength and importance of a monument. showcasing respect while capturing these pieces of art is the pointer to keep in mind and I think the click is going to look amazing.
