Full Moon above Santa Monica, edited in "True Colors". Colors are real and just emphasized in post-process. Invisible to the human eye, colors, once revealed, show differences in the chemical makeup of the lunar surface. Blue hues reveal titanium rich areas while orange-brown colors show regions poor in titanium and iron. Many spacecrafts have used spectral filters and other revealing methods for decades to explore the composition of the lunar surface, as changes in mineral content produce subtle color differences in reflected light. To give a little sense of scale, Tycho Crater, which is the bright white crater on the lower left with extensive ray system of light colored debris blasted out by the crater-forming impact, is 85 Kms-53 Mls in diameter, while the Sea of Tranquility, the big blue patch in the center right is 873 Km-542 Mls. Thank's for viewing. #MoonTrueColors #Moon #FullMoon #Astrophotography #landscape #Canon #capturetheatlas
