At The end of a cross country skiing trip on the plateau of the Langdales pikes just 30 minutes before sundown this monolith of granite demonstrated the heat from the sun that had accumulated from the day to the point that five inch gap had appeared between the huge monolith and the snow ,that coupled with the rising crescent moon was the icing on the cake !
