Location
The Bridge to Nowhere is up in a remote part of the Whanganui River in New Zealand's North Island, you can get to it with a 2 hour drive and then boarding a jet boat for about an hours trip fourth up river.Time
This was taken mid morning back in October 2011.Lighting
Since we were on a tour we didn't have much choice about the time of day so the lighting was what it was.Equipment
At this stage my Canon 60D was quite new, so I had a choice of a Canon EF-s 18-55mm lens or a Digital IXUS 800 IS Lens.Inspiration
The Bridge to nowhere is a popular tourist spot but one that's hard to get to. It's a place I had heard about for years and thought it would be good to visit while we were in this part of NZ.Editing
Since the Sky was very bright and I was still learning how to use the camera etc I had to increase the highlights setting in Aperture, soften the temperature in the white balance, increase saturation a little and sharpen the pic just a little. In my camera bag
These days, I still have the 60D but changed lenses to a Tamron 18-55mm, an L Series, 70-300m zoom lens and a standard 50ml Lens.Feedback
The Weather in New Zealand is very changeable so don't let that put you off, also some tourist Operators can pull the pin at the last minute. We are lucky to get to this place as we got stopped by a slip further down the road from the jet boat pickup point. We went back to the nearest town and used a phone to ring the Jet boat people to tell them we weren't going to make it but instead they travelled further down the river to pick us up!
