Location
This photo was taken in Central Florida, while exploring the beautiful late summer landscape, looking for interesting plants and wildlife.Time
Sometimes midday is a difficult time to get good photos of wildlife, but this was taken just after lunch. The sun was bright, but this young little guy was out anyway, and he was easy to spot on these purple leaves.Lighting
The sun was out and the photo was bright, so I had to take a few photos to get a quality photo that was not overexposed, and I had to hurry before he hopped away.Equipment
This was shot on a Nikon D3400 with a 55mm lens, no tripod or lighting were used or needed.Inspiration
Wildlife is by far my favorite thing to photograph, and frogs are one of my favorite animals. This is a green tree frog, native to Florida, but uncommon in many areas due to the taking over of the invasive Cuban treefrog. We are lucky to spot them, especially young ones like this.Editing
I only slightly increased the contrast and lowered the light since it was taken in bright sun.In my camera bag
I use a Nikon D3400 and also a D7100, and I use a 18-55mm lens, a 40mm macro lens, and a 70-300mm lens so that I have options, depending on what types of photos I am taking. I also keep a complete camera cleaning kit since I often shoot in nature, and sometimes nature is messy.Feedback
Patience is the most important thing, and the second most important is being ready to snap a photo in the blink of an eye. Sometimes I search for hours for wildlife to capture just the right photo of, and if you aren't ready, you can miss out on great opportunities. Look where you don't expect. Get down near the ground. Look under logs or leaves. You never know what amazing things you might find.
