Location
This was taken on the Osaka Metro Loop.Time
Around 11pm on new years eve.Lighting
I've always been intrigued with the life of the many office workers in Japan and in this Metro they had retained some of the textures of the wood like the trains were in the past. This mixture with the soft yellow lighting which I found almost uncommon in Osaka gave it a warmth despite being taken in the Winter. The walls had this gloss and with the addition of the glass there was a lot of reflection which allowed me to rely on the surroundings lights instead of a flashgun.Equipment
50mm lens and Nikon D800Inspiration
Just capturing the viewpoints of someone in the city and the life around me. The essence of street photography. Silent, wordless journalism.Editing
I added a small green tint, adjusted the luminosity/saturation of the oranges and added some shadows for depth. In my camera bag
My Nikon 50mm lens has been my main lens for any trip but recently I have switched to using Fujifilm mirrorless cameras for street photography. I still occasionally do take my Nikon d800 for streets shots but I almost have to treat it like a film camera because of its almost non existent burst shot mode and not having any vr or stabilization. I do take a tripod but its rare as I enjoy giving the perspective from a person, or really my perspective. I will take a zoom lens as a secondary lens or my 24mm too. My air blower is super useful too when quickly cleaning off dust without using my fingers.Feedback
Just treat the camera as your eyes literally. Take things slow initially and its normal to not get any good shots for hours.
