Location
This is one of the many flowers I have planted in my yard. I love the variety of color and simplicity of these gorgeous tulips.Time
The best time of day for photos of flowers is either early morning as the sun is rising or early evening as the sun is setting. I try to get an angle that shows off all of the intricate details of each petal and pistol.Lighting
I aim to get the light shining directly on or through the petals, usually in early evening before the sun goes down is best.Equipment
I used a Canon SX 530HS, no additional lenses, no tripod, no flash.Inspiration
My mother loves flowers, so anytime I see a beautiful flower, I stop and take a quick shot just to send to my mother. There isn't always beauty in humanity, but you can always find beauty in nature.Editing
No I do not. I shoot in Raw format and rarely ever edit an image. It's either a good photograph or it's not and it gets deleted. Photography is about mastering the actual process of taking the photograph, not mastering the process of digitally "Fixing" your photos. In my camera bag
I carry just my small Canon SX 530HS and a small tripod with me every day. These two items are basically everything I need to get some really amazing shots without having to be loaded down with additional equipment, especially on long hikes which I do frequently.Feedback
Photography is all about lighting. If your lighting is right then you will end up with a good image. If you can't get your lighting right, no matter how much you edit a photo it just won't turn out right. Practice using various stages of lighting by trying photos early in the morning or just before sunset. These two times of day are the best for lighting a photograph properly. Other than lighting, work on composition (which placement of the subject looks best). Composition could mean centering, not centering, shooting downwards or upwards. Angle plays the most important part in the composition of your photograph. If you have good lighting and great composition, you will have a fantastic photo every single time.
