Location
White Pocket, Utah.Time
It was actually smack dab in the middle of the day. I just got lucky that a storm was rolling in.Lighting
I wanted to draw attention to the water that was a rarity where we were. With the storm rolling in it gave me a break from the strong sunlight of mid day but still allowed just enough to peek through so the reflection of the rock formation would be seen.Equipment
I used a Canon 6D with a 28-80mm f3.5-5.6 lens. No other equipment was used.Inspiration
The Water. Usually the area is nothing but sand and rock. But storms had popped up recently and left beautiful little pools of water in their wake.Editing
I actually didn’t have to do a whole lot of post processing in this image. I had to process the raw file but all the data I needed was captured so didn’t do much other than tweaking the white balance and adding a small tone curve. In my camera bag
I usually have my Canon 6D along with a lighter smaller canon xti. The 6D gets pulled mainly for landscape photography where I want the detail while the xti i a great little camera for street photography. My favorite lens is my 50mm prime 1.2 but also carry the 70-200mm f4 and the 28-80mm is great for those landscape shots.Feedback
Be patient. Lighting can be tricky in some locations and it may take you a couple shots to nail your vision in those situations.
