Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at a local wetlands called Kisses Lagoon, in Bega on the Far South Coast of New South Wales, Australia.

Time

It was taken approximately 7:30 am.

Lighting

The early morning winter light was perfect to frame the gorgeous cygnet.

Equipment

Taken with my Canon EOS 700D, handheld with 75-300mm lens. Aperture f5.6, ISO 320, shutter 1/400, FL 300/1

Inspiration

I am an almost daily visitor to this spot. The Black Swans have been unsuccessful the last few years in raising any young, due to fires, drought, predation and floods. When they were successful in hatching a brood of 6, i was overjoyed and loving photographing their journey. They were born in August 2021 and now into November, 4 have survived to almost adulthood.

Editing

Just slightly cropped and balanced, they are very used to me being there, so am able to get very close.

In my camera bag

My wonderful Canon EOS 700D, 18-55mm lens, 75-300mm lens, Ring light, ND filters, spare batteries and SD cards.
