Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken outside in front of my university engineering workshop in Kwara state Nigeria.

Time

This picture was taken in the morning around 11 AM and it was really cloudy, which gave me soft lighting.

Lighting

I wanted this picture to look more mysterious and dark but due to the clouds clustering each other popping a lot of soft tones onto her skin. So I had decided to borrow a softbox to add light to her. And it was really intriguing.

Equipment

This was shot on a Nikon D3000, alongside a 50mm f/1.8 prime lens, a Godox TT520 Speedlite, a 60cm reflector, a Godox softbox, and a tripod. No other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I was just on Instagram and Pinterest and something just popped on o having a not too sad and too happy picture with a dark scene. Due to the fact, my school was big and had a lot of areas to use, the background was a problem didn't have a backdrop to create a nice background so I use the garage door.

Editing

Sometimes portraits don't really require a lot of processing. In this particular case, I had to develop the raw to correct the white balance, the basic settings (i.e. exposure, saturation, e.t.c.).

In my camera bag

The first thing I always pack is my Canon rebel T7 body which is my favorite budget camera along with my sigma 70-300mm Telephoto lens and this lens is really an amazing lens.

Feedback

Be one with your model and the weather. What I always tell myself and anyone "If I can imagine it, I can capture it and I can publish it".
