Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Picton, on the South Island of New Zealand.

Time

Sunset

Lighting

All natural light.

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7000 with the 18-105mm 3.5-5.6 Kit lens and I used a Tripod.

Inspiration

Normally the water is not that quiet in the malborough sounds. So it was kind of luck that there was almost no wind at all, and I just liked the reflection from the water.

Editing

The photo is an HDR image with some adjusted Lightroom filters on it.

In my camera bag

I travel, so the Gear I take with me is limited by the weight factor. And I still need to get lighter :) Normally I´ll carry my D7000, my 50mm 1.8G and the 18-105mm 3.5-5.6 with me. I also almost always bring my Tripod, and all the usual little stuff, SD-cards, spare Batteries lens cleaning tools and so on.

Feedback

Check the weather, wait for the sunset, bring a Tripod and go for it. I shot a lot of photos on my New Zealand trip with HDR settings. So I have 1 normal "hopefully good exposure" + 2 photos of -2 /+2 just in case. And that method worked for some photos, but not for all.
