Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at my Birmingham Studio. I am a Professional Photographer. This is my living.

Time

Well, this photo was taken in August and we started the shoot at 2 pm.

Lighting

My lighting set up for this shoot was a 2 light set up useing 2 6ft soft boxes with grids fitted to give me more control of the lighting.

Equipment

For this shoot I was using my trusted Nikon D3X with a Sigma 28 - 300 mm lens.

Inspiration

After an hour of shooting we stopped for a break. So we sat down for a coffee and a chat. At this point we started to talk about changing the back drop and the lighting to do some B&W work. I wanted the model to have a natural look / Pose so for this pose it was very simple I asked my Model how do you sit at home when your relaxing. This is what we came up with. A natural and relaxed look.

Editing

My post-processing is very simple. I all ways shoot in colour. So I did a B&W conversion with a Green filter in Photo shop and added my logo.

In my camera bag

We'll, my gear in my Bag / Studio is Nikon D3x Nikon D4 Nikon D6 Nikon D800. Lenses Sigma 28-300, Sigma 30mm Sigma 80mm, Sigma 50-500 and Sigma 70-200.

Feedback

I work with maney models and most of them I have worked with time and time again so for me it is about building a good working relation ship. Have good communication before your shoot so you both know what you are shooting. If you build a good working relation ship with your model you will all ways get the result you were after. All ways let your model see the photos so that can see what you are after. Most important have a relaxed incitement to work in.
