Time

My best friend Sugarbear died and I was so sad and my twin sons were too. Our other dog was grieving and would not get up off the bed. So I decided to look for a puppy. I knew it would help us all get through our loss and give us joy when we needed it the most. So there was an ad in the paper saying "Black Labrador puppies for sale. There are two litters from two mothers and one father that are on site. Hurry, they are going fast!" So one of my boys and I drove to the house as fast as we could. He loved the fat fluffy one but I told him the best way to choose a puppy was to let it come to you. So we sat on the grass. Before we knew it, a thin little silky puppy ran up to us and grabbed my car keys, and ran off! It was so cute because my keys were bigger than that puppy. She struggled with them but she was the one for us! She was the runt and didn't get enough to eat because her brothers (yes she was the only girl) did not leave room for her to squeeze in between them to eat. She was so smart! She would grab a tennis ball and drop it at our feet then look at us and run to get it, then repeat! She would do that all night if we let her. In this photo, a friend of mine was caring for Sophie for a while. I took my grandson with me to visit with her and noticed her scratching in the dirt.

Lighting

Always have to Sun behind you (if possible) when taking a photo. I love the outdoors natural lighting.

Equipment

Olympus FE1115 X715 Camera, Aperture 30/10, IOS 64, Shutter 1/50, Focal Length 620/120

Inspiration

When I saw her, I knew I wanted to snap a photo of her being funny and playful. I am so happy that I did because a few years later she died.

Editing

This was a raw photo. Nothing was done to enhance or take away from the originality of who Sophie was!

Feedback

The best photos are the ones that are natural and taken on a whim. I just take random photos sometimes, and they turn out nicely. To take a photo of a pet, you have to make a noise so you can get them to look at you. With the element of surprise, I was able to get this in the first shot! can get the best shot.
