Location
This photo was taken inside Union Station Kansas City, looking into the old waiting room, and featuring one of it main attractions, the clock. Generations of travelers would say “meet me under the clock” as a easy way to find each other, and still done today!Time
I arrived early this day. I was meeting my Godson to shoot some senior pictures from him. Having visited before, I had seen the light in the early morning and the way it moves across the old waiting room. I also knew early morning would be the best time to get a shot without people. This was taken on 10/09/2020 at 9:32 am.Lighting
The lighting here changes with sun, providing different views and lighting scenarios throughout the day, and seasons. So you can capture many different lighting scenes depending on time of day and season.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon Z50, 50mm lens, f/4.5 1/125 free hand.Inspiration
Union Station Kansas City has a long history and a wonderful photo destination. It is always decorated and lighted for holidays, and special events. This was one of the few times I saw this area empty.Editing
I was very happy the way this worked out. In post I cropped some and made black and white in Light Room.In my camera bag
My Z50 as it is so lightweight, my 50mm prime lens, my 50-25O and 16-50 kit lenses.Feedback
Depending on what you want to capture, people, an event, or some of the surrounding landscape, make sure and scout the area if possible so you can set up for the shot you want. A few hours after I captured this, the area was full of people for an event.
