This picture depicts how Tregargus Mill - once a busy mill supporting a thriving Cornish Clay industry, it's now being reclaimed by nature. But it transpires that the area is under another threat...

This was my second visit to Tregargus Valley, which is of historical importance - especially to proud Cornish people.

On my first visit, I was disappointed to see a lot of rubbish strewn around the ruined 19th century structures built for Cornish China Clay production. I hate seeing areas of natural beauty or historic importance being held in such disregard. And can't understand how the culprits can show such disregard for other people who want to enjoy these areas.

On this visit, there were still signs of rubbish and small fires - but thankfully it was much less obvious. I discovered though, the valley is under threat of closure to the public due to ongoing vandalism. What's the matter with people?!!

Surprisingly, I couldn't find much about the area's history online. The best source of info being from blogger "Cornish Bird" -

China Stone was quarried and milled in Tregargus Valley from around 1870 until 1965. The valley originally had seven China Stone mills - ruins of five-six remain today.
