Location
This image was taken at Elizabeth Beach just near my home on the East Coast of Australia.Time
This was one of those grab the camera and go kind of days. The image was shot in the last of the sunset light, I had just arrived home from work to see the swell pumping so I quickly grabbed the gear and headed down to the beach.Lighting
As I was chasing a long exposure feel to this image, the sunset at this location creates a great opportunity for this when the lighting and conditions are correct.Equipment
For this image I have used telephoto lens on my Canon 5d mk3 with a monopod. This combination works great with large swell from the rocks or beach as it enables quick movement and the ability to not get to wet.Inspiration
As this is one of my local beaches and it also only gets large swell in certain conditions, it makes it a go to for me when its on. When the light is good it can be spectacular at this location.Editing
This image was shot as a raw file on camera. It has then been edited in photoshop by dodging and burning, bluring and sharpening. This process is not to change the image but to bring out the colours and feel of the actual moment. In my camera bag
Equipment for the task can vary but I always try to keep it simple. My camera body with a 24-70mm , 50mm , 150-600mm and a tripod is standard. But at times il have the water housing or drone on hand as well.Feedback
I think that photography can take you on many journeys and to many places, so patience and learning along the way will be your best friend and make you better at what you do.
