Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in the woods not too far from my house on the banks of a small pond.

Time

Took this photo mid-afternoon during a day of clear skies in autumn. It was an absolutely gorgeous day.

Lighting

Taking outdoor photos can sometimes be a finnicky process because you have to work around where the sun is in the sky. The bare trees were a wonderful light filter that helped to bring more focus to the shelter itself.

Equipment

Honestly, I shot this on my android smartphone. I've never been able to afford a big, fancy professional camera, so I learned to work with what I have.

Inspiration

Someone spent so much of their time putting together this shelter. I don't know why they did it, but it was just so beautiful how carefully, they constructed this little haven out in the middle of nowhere. I felt like their hard work should be recognized.

Editing

In general, I might do some slight cropping on the photos, but I don't do much more. With this photo, I used the black and white setting on my phone.

In my camera bag

I have recently upgraded to a Sony 6.0 megapixel cyber-shot. It's not anything fancy, but I love it because it is very light-weight and takes amazing photos.

Feedback

Go out into nature and look around. Try walking or hiking in places that are off the beaten path, because those places are some of the most beautiful and fascinating in the world.
