Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at West Palm beach conservation zoo

Time

This was taken mid day while it is at its hottest in Florida which causes all the iguanas to find a nice sunbathing spot to absorb the heat

Lighting

The lighting is 100% natural lighting

Equipment

This was shot with a Sony A7 R IV and a 70-200mm zoom lens, this was handheld capturing with all natural lighting. Fortunately the Sony A7R IV has 61 mp to work with which allowed me to crop closer to the lizard and bring out its beauty

Inspiration

Between the lighting and the stance of the animal I felt it was a perfect opportunity to show the lizard up close as well as see what the Sony camera could truly do.

Editing

there wasn’t a lot done in post processing, simple cropping for a more close up of the animal and darkening of the background to really have e the lizard stand out

In my camera bag

Generally I have my Sony A7R IV with a zoom lens and one prime, as well as my canon R5

Feedback

Shooting animals can be the most interesting photography out there as they re 100% candid all of the time, so after shooting you look back and see what amazing reactions or features you’ve caught the animal doing. It’s actually pretty magical to experience in my opinion. Animals are beautiful and mysterious at the same time. So every photo you take tells a different story. My advice is to go out and find wildlife wherever you may be, and shoot. In the end your almost guaranteed to have a handful of photos that can draw a viewer into a story they create within simply looking at your photo.
