Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my neighbors yard. I learned photography through YouTube videos so everytime I shoot I consider it practice. At this time I am living in a hotel room with my wife and son as we suffered a house fire on July 4th. Seeing this helped make my birthday a bit brighter. Thank you.

Time

I had gotten home from work and noticed that my neighbors flowers were looking so vividly purple in the flat sunlight. I couldnt help but grab my camera and try for a shot.

Lighting

I didn't know it at the time, but the flat even light through the cloud layer really helped bring out the deep purple. What amazed me was the little pinhole that opened up in the clouds as I shot and just caught the top of the one flower.

Equipment

I took this shot from a tripod with my Canon 90D and Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 sport. My settings were ISO 100 F/3.2 and 1/20th at 179mm.

Inspiration

This was a spur of the moment shot. In my young 4 year photography career I have found that I really like the color purple for some reason. If I see purple I am gonna try 2 shoot it everytime. ????

Editing

This photo did not take much post processing at all. I knew I had a good background to bokeh with my Sigma lens. I save in RAW, so it is just global edits with a small vignette.

In my camera bag

Since my photography career is young I do not have a bunch of equipment. In my bag you will find a Canon 90D, 18-55 IS kit lens, 55-250 IS kit lens, Sigma 30mm F/1.4 art, and this Sigma 70-200 F/2.8 sport this was shot on. Other than that I have a small hardback notebook for note taking, batteries, lens cloths, etc.

Feedback

Stay true to what you saw. Don't blast the saturation in post. ????
