Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Ericeira, a Portuguese coastal village. Nowadays it is a surfer known spot…

Time

Well it was taken at mid afternoon, when walking around in its typical narrow streets, after a good sea food meal!

Lighting

The blue was intense and the shallow shadow gives somes depth to the door itself.

Equipment

I use as Nikon D5500 with an AF-S DX Nikon 18-140mm F/3.5-5.6 ED VR without tripod.

Inspiration

I like to capture the essence of some interesting details when strolling around some typical and old villages with a very strong personality. In this case, the blue is the dominant color in the buildings inside the old village centre, and it gives some interesting frames to capture…

Editing

I usually capture in RAW format, so I developed it using Lightroom to post-process it, in order to optimize exposure, contrast, etc.

In my camera bag

I usually have the Nikon D5500, the AF-S DX 24-105mm, an AF-S DX 70-300mm and AF-S DX 35mm. Besides that, a mini tripod and a polarising filter.

Feedback

When strolling around, keep a eye on what you see and try to capture that moment with an interesting composition, trying to use the available light the best possible way. Do not wait to the optimum light to capture what you see and consider to be worth to be framed…
