On the early end of an evening on a cloudy day. This was taken while strolling the backyard amongst the blooming gladiolus.Time
This was taken on an early evening in the latter part of summer.Lighting
I'm a fan of natural light. This was taken at the early end of an evening on a cloudy day. Natural diffusion, and because of no harsh light- there was nothing to take away from the brilliant color from the gladiolus.Equipment
This was shot handheld with a Canon EOS R mirrorless camera with a canon EF 18-55mm lens.Inspiration
On my evening stroll with my little one in the backyard, he went exploring a portion of the garden and began hiding the blooming gladiolus flowers. Taking note of his antics, I took out my camera. I said, "'Hold your breath. Count to three,'" and I took the shotEditing
I always look at my pictures in Adobe's Lightroom Classic after I take them. Most of the time, it's because I want to- at the very least- straighten out my pictures. In my camera bag
On a typical day, I have my: EOS R mirrorless body EF 18-55mm 3.5/5.6f lens EF 75-300mm 5.6 lens A mercury tripod. Manfrotto mini stand (one you would put one. Desk, but can support a camera on it) 2-3 64g SD cards 1 extra fully charged battery 1 cordless battery charger Laptop plus charger Multi card reader. Camera/lens care kit.Feedback
Nature only happens once (even with people), so just take the picture. If at any point you find yourself saying or feeling like "everyone else has taken a picture like that"- take the picture anyways. Because it's your turn to step up to the plate and take the shot. And always make sure your settings are preemptively done before walking into your environment, so you're ready to go.
