Ron and Rebecca met in September 1963 as they began the 8th grade in Tucson, AZ. She was 12 and he was 13 when they started dating. From that moment they knew it was something special. They dated on and off for about 3 years, admitting they were young, immature, and just not ready for a lasting relationship. During these years, "Precious and Few" did become "their song." With lyrics like "Baby, it's you on my mind, your love is so rare. Being with you is a feeling I just can't compare. And if I can't hold you in my arms, it just wouldn't be fair
'Cause precious and few are the moments we two can share," the young sweethearts entered high school. Then, three years after their first date, they became engaged. The engagement lasted for 18 months but, by 17 & 18 years old they decided to end it. Life gets complicated and, taking separate roads, they simply lost contact.
Each went on with their separate lives; marrying and having children. They never forgot about one another and often found themselves wondering about their high school sweetheart. Every time they heard their song, they recalled the first time they kissed. Time continued on and, forty-three years later, Rebecca got a text message from Ron on her birthday! She was so excited that she thought she would hyperventilate, but she tried to act normal.
They began having frequent and increasingly longer conversations. They reminisced about their teenage years, tried to catch-up on the four decades since they last saw one another, and discovered they were both single. They were extremely comfortable talking together, as if no time had gone by. They quickly knew that their love for each other was still there and once more they began discussing marriage. Two months later, Ron asked Rebecca to marry him. They made plans to spend some time together and, when they actually saw one another again, it just felt natural being together. Sure, they were older, hair was grayer, and faces a little more wrinkled, but their attraction was deeper than the surface - it reached the soul level. Old feelings came rushing back and they found themselves connected. They weren't going to let each other go a second time!
The rest of the story was written on this day, their wedding day, as they joined together with a future of "precious and plenty are the moments they two can share."
