The man with the sad eyes was standing by the roadside deep in the tropical jungle of Yucatan and was selling tropical fruits. Both indigenous Maya and Maya still live in what is now the Yucatan Peninsula. Mayan languages are still spoken in the region today.
The Yucatan Peninsula is home to many tropical rainforests and jungles. The area between Guatemala, Mexico and Belize is the largest contiguous area of tropical rainforest in Central America.
