Behind The Lens

Location

It's a classic example of Shoot 100 Keep 1...There's a small pond behind my local grocer that invites waterfowl daily. Sometimes you get that special moment captured - never taken for granted

Time

The 90 minutes before sunset brings them all home to sleep.. A perfect time to anticipate action and connectivity

Lighting

The natural lighting was exquisite touched up with a touch of "mist" to highlight the mystery

Equipment

When I'm out in the world, open to random surprises, I always have my smartphone camera at my side. If good fortune smiles on me I'll fine tune the image in Photoshop to up the quality and prepare for higher resolution for printing (if needed)

Inspiration

The world is an inspiring place - isn't it? What more inspiration do we need other than Life and Nature? The final image was further inspired by the dance between the silvery patina of the crane's feathers and the silvery gloss on the pond.

Editing

Since the source was phone camera based i needed to tweak the contrast and clarity a bit. 1st step is within the camera 2nd step is Photoshop (if needed) always trying to retain the original quality and "naturalness" of the moment

In my camera bag

I love street photography and the gifts of surprises rather than posed shots so I try to be as invisible as possible. That's why I primarily use the stealthness of my device rather than the obviousness of DSLRs and tripod/lighting setups
