Location
Every spring the ornamental cherry trees surrounding the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre in Toronto bloom. Even during Covid people came to have their photos taken with the flowers as a background.Time
In order to capture the inner blossom, I took the photo in the early evening once the sun was blocked from one side; otherwise, the petals and the shadows create too much mayhem. Shooting pointing up allowed me to still get a contrasting background behind the mass of blooms to help accentuate the structure of the trunk and limbs with backlighting.Lighting

Taken with my Samsung cell phone on the spur of the moment.Inspiration
Normally, I prefer to shoot the cherry blossoms in macro, but the whole cloud of flowers just seems to make it's own impressionist painting as a group.Editing
Very little editing required. Just enough to sharpen the contrast. In my camera bag
I have been submitting to contests in the hopes of winning equipment to put into my bag! All I have, on top of my cell phone, is a first generation Canon Rebel Xti....it's time for an upgrade!Feedback
I am learning to take shots using a wider field of vision and then crop to where I want during editing. Nothing irritates me more than seeing the photo on a large screen and realizing that I cut of the flow of an arching branch or a cluster of blooms that would balance the other elements in the photo.
