This is a primary hybrid cross of 2 species, tothschildianum x the relatively newly discovered malipoense, named Harold Koopowitz. Though rothschildianum is a knockout with multiple very large flowers and horizontal petals about a foot across, it is very slow growing and imparts this trait to its offspring. Unfortunately it's been noted that malipoense is a pretty slow grower too. It's been a few years now and I'm stil waiting for it to re-bloom, but I'm in no great hurry. It grows among all the others that produce the flowers that I get to love more often.
Malipoense is rounded, pale greenish yellow with small burgundy spots. It also has a raspberry fragrance, one flower with a very large lip per stem.
