Location
Terra Alta is the place, a small region in Catalonia (Spain). Dedicated to agriculture, oil and wines.Time
Noon, in the lunch break. After working very hard in the grape harvest. Hours of work in the sun, and the reward of rest.Lighting
Natural light, with very bright lens. to define details and blur the backgroundEquipment
Canon 5D Mark II, Len: 24/70 2.8 Serie L. Only natural light.Inspiration
Documenting the harvesting process is beautiful, but also hard, you work from sunrise to sunset, and the people who are picking the grapes are subjected to considerable effort. the hand is that of the oldest of the workers, an almost elderly man who continues to work the land, and his hands are the reflection of a life of hard work.Editing
Not especially, I don't use Photoshop, just a brightness, contrast, and saturation correction. In this image I gave it a bit of hardness and tint of color. In my camera bag
For this work I was use 2 cámeras: Canon 6D with a 70/200 L canon lens and a 5D Mark II with a 24/70 L canon lens. Auxiliary battery and 1 canon speedlite in the bag.Feedback
When I work on a report I always consider capturing the full dimension of what I see, from the wide landscape to the smallest details. And of course I try to give presence to the character of the people who appear. In this case the image of a hardened hand is the best portrait of what it means to work in the field.
