Spending 12 hours in a small wooden hide with mosquittos and a bucket!! Probably isnt everyones idea of a holiday but when mum brings her cubs out to look for food after midnight 12 hours with mosquittos isnt that bad!!!

Back in August 2008 we had the opportunity to go out with the possibility of seeing a Great White Shark Breach with Shark Diving Unlimited Gansbaai.
It was an early start with very little light.The sea was rough and it was raining but WOW It was worth it!

Waiting in the lake hide it was a slow start.The wind was strong and any bears that might of been in the vicinity were not visiting the lake then at 1am in the morning the wind started to ease and a bear appeared out the woods.

Its a humdrum kind of a day

Sea ice deterioration due to climate change,increased shipping,development, oil and gas extraction,disease and contamination and hunting all represent increasing threats to walrus and marine life in the future
