I took this photo in Follonica, near the Nautical Club. I remember that a storm had just ended, the vertical clouds are still visible in the background ...Time
Afternoon... One afternoon it rained, which then suddenly became clear as the wind veered from the north and began to sweep away the clouds and tear through the sky in large patches of blue and colors. Unfortunately, however, the photo is monochrome ... :-) But not entirely, after all ...Lighting
The light was magical in those moments. Apart from the reflections on the sea, but then through the clouds there were a lot of different areas, sharp rays, projected shadows, the Island of Elba "in slices", in short: an explosion. But the harmless ones.Equipment
I used a Sony alpha 6400, equipped with the 18-135 f3.5-5.6 oss. I shot at 18mm, ISO 100, f14 and an exposure time of 1/50.Inspiration
The thing that struck me about this atmosphere was the contrast. There was clear, clean air after the rain; in the sky you could see this grandiose explosion of nature, in the form of a white anvil and sun rays that pierced it. On the other hand, a gentleman was walking quietly, leaving the apocalypse behind him, unharmed ... I hope it is a good omen in these difficult times for everyone ...Editing
For post production I used my favorite: Luminar 4. The high contrast of light was perfect for attempting monochrome, so I adjusted the white balance, reduced the highlights a little and increased the shadows to emphasize the final contrast. I also applied the Dark Moon preset to make the sharpness of the contrasts even more effective. Finally I adjusted the saturation of the magenta to give the dry vegetation in the foreground a nice "rhubarb" effect. In my camera bag
My 6400 with the 18-135. A very good combination if you go out during the day and, these days, night photography is impractical. I always carry my gorillapod, a polarizer and... a couple of spare batteries with me!Feedback
In my opinion it is always a good idea, whenever possible, to drive around in the car immediately after the storm. Heaven and earth are making peace but they are still a little "electrified" and the cue is always a little sparkling. Okay, you're going to have to get a little muddy on your shoes and maybe your pants too. But taking landscape photos is great for that too: it encourages you to get back to nature. And it's not a hobby for the lazy!
