This is a picture of the Tsarevets fortress in Veliko Turnovo, Bulgaria. This was the main fortress during the second Bulgarian empire (1185-1393). Veliko Turnovo was then the capital of Bulgaria. Today the town (70000 inhabitants) is one of the most charismatic places to visit in Bulgaria.
