This photo was taken at my Son's home in Alberta Canada We used the corner of the kitchen nook because it had double windows we could use for light and floor to ceiling height to work with. This was March 2020 so not many options for places to goTime
We took this photo early morning in a corner window and I used a box flash to soften the harsh white light coming in. This light lasted till almost 1p.m. and then I found some of the softer light didn't bring them out as much when my son tried again with no flash.Lighting
I wanted these photos look have a soft airy almost angelic look to them, but wanted the contrast of the black to really draw focus to the baby bump. Scout's colouring is perfect for this picture and with the bright, but softened front light I feel the black really draws you into them and frames them with light. There was no editing other than some cropping, this is a feature of all my photos. I love to keep moments as natural as possible. I love to grab expressions or feelings in my photos and equally evoke them.Equipment
Sony 7.23 f5/6, ISO 250, shutter 1/60, Focal 350/10 used portable ring flashInspiration
Our son's partner was pregnant with our 1st Grandchild and this is our Grandpuppy Scout. My son wanted this pic and we had really back lit the area, getting ready for baby belly pics. They are beautiful and very photogenic! By the way the photo is called "Little Family"Editing
No processing other than a little cropping to finish framing effect ( rule of thirds)In my camera bag
I just got a new bag! Now I can always have my new 100/300 with me, always extra batteries, flash w/portable round, 28/70 I use to have many more, but got sick about 12 yrs ago and I'm just trying to come back and it's all different. I still love my new Sony, but miss my macro lenses as that is one of my favorite types of pics. I have about 14,000 pics to rescue from my old mac that I hope to share. All taken with Minolta to Sony to Sony SLR Digital and now MirrorlessFeedback
I think the key for this photo was having the corner, so we had 3 sides of light coming at them. I also think that the choice of going with Black was key in giving contrasts against all the light. Note her colouring is warm as well so putting her in a small amount of contrasting colour and being lucky enough to catch them at this height, so they can make a strong 1/3 focus. I hope that helps, thank you for taking the time to look at my picture. Take care and be safe Lynn
