Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on the beach at our cottage.

Time

This kind of day always excites me, clear cold mornings when you know the frost will be highlighted by the bright light of morning.

Lighting

The natural lighting on these kind of blue sky days if perfect for lensball shots.

Equipment

The beach and rocks are uber slippery so no tripod this particular morn. Just my camera and my lensball.

Inspiration

The beach inspires me always to shoot all kinds of shots, but the blue sky morning amps up the urge.

Editing

I generally only do slight sharpening of the actual photo ball image if its needed. I occasionally turn the image in the ball right side up but not this morn. I like the contrast.

In my camera bag

I am an amateur photographer and so far only am using bridge cameras, I have a Sony RX100M7 which is my goto and is very versatile, also a Lumix DCFZ 80 . I did buy a Sony mirrorless 6000 which I am trying to learn to use but find it frustrating. Also the lenses are so expensive. I always carry my two lensballs, and a small mirror which I like to play with for reflections. I have a small flexible tripod which will carry if I am doing still shots of water.

Feedback

Lensball captures can be tricky, one really needs to play and experiment with them on different types of days, sunny versus cloudy, some days its impossible to not get yr own reflection in the ball. And also so important to remember these glass balls are fire starters if you are shooting in dry areas ! you can also burn your skin very easily, but after the first time you do that you dont forget it hurts !
