Location
This photo was taken from our balcony on a moody and misty morning. The fog rolled in from the River Elbe and wanted to capture the amazing mist.Time
This was a 7am shot, just after the sunrise and during "golden hour", even though it can not be seen here. I woke up early to drink my coffee whilst watching the sunrise. As I did I saw the moody mist rolling in from the River Elbe. As it got thicker and thicker I knew I needed to capture the moment. So I set up the tripod, the self timer and waited for the click.Lighting
All lighting is natural light from the morning sunrise. The mist is so thick that the sun couldn't penetrate it.Equipment
This was shot shortly before my camera upgrade. This was shot on a Canon 550D with a Samyang 35mm f/1,4 and Rollei Tripod.Inspiration
I was inspired by the moment but also my years worth of moody photography research. love moody photos and spend a lot of time searching and seeking talented photographers on Instagram who capture moody moments like this.Editing
Yes, this photo was edited in Lightroom to bring out the colours to help capture the feelings I felt whilst shooting. In my camera bag
Now, I have upgraded to Sony. Sorry Canon! I have been Canon for almost 10 years but I couldn't not switch to Sony after all their releases in recent years. So currently my camera bag holds a Sony A6000, Sony 30mm f/3.5 and Sony Kit Lens 16-50mm f3.5. I will be getting a battery grip! I like my heavy cameras that hold a long battery life. Also, will be investing in some lenses.Feedback
Shoot, edit and repeat. I have recently rekindled my love for photography and have been posting on Instagram almost daily. It has been the perfect tool for me to improve my craft. Finding a subject, capturing it in a creative way, editing in Lightroom and getting active feedback from my followers. It's a never ending learning curve.
