Behind The Lens

Location

This photo idea was created on location in a public underground car park, in the city of Lichfield UK.

Time

It was a cold wet daytime shoot around 2:30pm

Lighting

Lighting I took two Godox TT600’s with Magmod grids and light blue gels. One key light left side Rembrandt style and right side bouncing off wall to highlight the texture and act as a rim light on subject.

Equipment

Camera: Canon 5D Mk11 24 to 105 F4L canon lens

Inspiration

I’ve been an actor for 20 years and over COVID I decided to take my photography more seriously in an area I know well and love, Cinematography. I’m quite a dark person so this drama is what I look for in creating a scene. The model is an Irish bloke with a great face for a fierce looking vibe.

Editing

Very little as I shot in raw change to BW and ajustes the normal post Edit setting contrast, texture sharpness etc… I like to get in as good as I can in camera as I only used my iPhone LR app to edit

In my camera bag

Canon body 5ds 50mm 1.8 85mm 1.8 couple of tripods and ad200 flash and small umbrellas

Feedback

Just don’t think too much Position lights use a tripod, to be sure it’s bang on focus and play about. Be creative and take lots of shots low, high and forget the rules. Creativity comes from experimenting, it’s not always logic
