Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my backyard!

Time

This was taken in the afternoon when the sun was out! I remember walking outside and seeing this cat outside and I slowly pulled my phone out of my back pocket and opened the camera a snapped a shot.

Lighting

Since this was a stray cat, she was so mysterious and I didn't know much about her. I wanted to convey that mysterious feeling into the photo and also wanted to bring out the playfulness in her eyes. I used no special lighting, I only used the natural lighting of the sunlight.

Equipment

The equipment I used in this photo was actually my phone! I used a Samsung Galaxy J3 Orbit.

Inspiration

I had ben watching this cat for a few days. She would come and go so quietly and quickly. And I really wanted to capture her beautiful darkened fur against a contrasting background. I actually wasn't planning on taking this photo. It was one of those rare moments where there was a picture perfect moment and I took advantage of it.

Editing

Yes I did tweak the contract and highlights a little bit. Then I made the picture black and white because I felt like it really complemented the mood of the picture. I did all of this work on two different apps, snapseed and adobe photoshop.

In my camera bag

I always carry my phone, special Xenvo lenses for my phone, and extra microfiber cloths for cleaning the lenses. The two lenses for my phone include a micro lens and a wide angle lens. Then my camera I also use is a Canon Eos Rebel T100.

Feedback

Always be prepared to take a picture. Sometimes the most perfect picture is taken when you least expect it. Also take pictures of things you aren't sure will turn out good. Most of the time, hidden beauty is found in a place where you don't think it is normally found.
