Behind The Lens
Location
Purchase, New York, private backyard.Time
This was early morning, when I went outside to drink hot coffee on a damp, cool autumnal morning. This giant spider, at least, an inch long! Was right in the center of his masterpiece web.Lighting
I used the morning light shadows and chose monochrome looking for a spookier feel.Equipment
Camera: Canon 7D Tamron lens: 16-300 No flash No tripodInspiration
The outrageous size and ugliness of this spider and the fact that I despise spiders, forced me to face my fears and capture the underlying beauty, in this case, of the wonders of nature.Editing
I may have tapped the contrast button minimally, otherwise no post processing to speak of really. In my camera bag
I have a canon 18-135mm lens and a 50mm in my bag always. I have a flash and never use it! I really should start!Feedback
Let the beauty of ugly speak and translate by itself. Forcing anything through post processing, I believe diminishes its originality and natural look.
