Behind The Lens

Location

This image was taken in a small farm hamlet of Southern Highlands, Australia called Joadja.

Time

The photo was taken about 11 AM in a dark studio on the back of my client farm.

Lighting

I actually took this image when I was at my client's property scouting for locations and subject matters that would suit the branding and social media brief he has given me. I wanted to check the lighting using my light meter, and as he was working, I took this image. It turned out to be one of my favourites and wasn't even planned for the brief.

Equipment

My Canon 5D Mark IV in manual settings with no tripod using my trust canon 24-105mm - None of my other equipment was used.

Inspiration

I love seeing the artist create. What inspires me was the movement of both the creator and his creation. Seeing the form caught on camera.

Editing

I used to lightroom and converted it to monochrome. I adjusted the balance and contrast and voom, bam, boom, one of my favourite images.

In my camera bag

My amazing Canon 5D Mark IV with my canon nifty fifty, my telezoom 70-200mm lens for my action shots and 24- 105mm for my more creative shots. Also at the ready in my bag is Canon Speedlite 430EXIII-RT, my Viltrox L1116T light square which I use to create an outline on close up shots and my two Neewer LED battery Studio lights which follow me everywhere.

Feedback

I found that taking your time to cue the shot, work around the creative. They will keep asking what you want them to do. Just tell me to act how they will normally act and you will be able to get an incredible shot.
