One early morning, my friend and I drove out deep into the San Gabriel mountains for a cute picnic. We love to regularly explore new places, and were lucky to come across this gem.Time
This photo is one of my all time favorites because when I was here at 8:30am, I felt like I was in a serene painting.Lighting
On this beautiful cloudy day, the environment was mesmerizing to be in and to soak up. The fog set up the mood. The sound of the stream set up the soothing music to my ears. This picture would not have come across as beautiful as it did if the sun was out and casting harsh shadows everywhere.Equipment
I ventured off away from my friend for a little while and captured the scene with only my IPhone 11 Pro.Inspiration
My inspiration for photography comes from a feeling that I find beautiful to me. At this moment, I felt calm and peaceful. Especially in a time where so much was happening in the world with COVID-19, and the protests from all over. This moment in time, it was just me and my thoughts of calmness alone.Editing
I find it fascinating how you see things with your eyes is not always how it is captured on camera. Due to not having a professional camera on me at the time, I edited the photo to be more saturated since the colors did not come across how it seemed to me in person. I was glad to have been able to replicate the exact scene the way I remembered it.In my camera bag
Normally, I carry my camera with 2 different lenses. However on this day, I did not expect to be surrounded by such beautiful scenery so I only had my iPhone 11 Pro.Feedback
My only advice is to get out and capture anything that you find beautiful. Knowing the weather condition definitely helps also. Some of my best pictures have been during a cloudy day because the environment seem a lot more softer, and the lighting looks more pleasing to the eye...in my opinion. Everyone’s definition of beauty is different and there’s no right or wrong. Take pictures on a cloudy day, a rainy day, a sunny day, etc, and see what works for you. At the end of the day, if you’re happy with your work, that’s all that matters.
