This photo was taken at my daughter's adopted family's home during the Christmas holiday season in December 2020.Time
This photo was taken in the afternoon hours between lunch and dinner.Lighting
The time of the day really helped with the lighting because there was snow on the ground to help the outside light really come in; therefore, there wasn't much need for any artificial lighting other than the Christmas decorations.Equipment
This was actually taken from a phone, but being that I've gotten a new phone since then, I do not know which phone it was taken from.Inspiration
I've placed 2 children of mine for adoption at birth, due to personal reasons. I chose open adoptions for both of them. Whenever I have the opportunity to take photos or receive them, especially with my children that I do not get to see on a regular basis, I cherish every one of those opportunities given to me.Editing
The only post-processing that I would consider to be done is the background blur, which was created while taking the photo. This was set with a mild blur in the background so that you are still able to capture the essence of the time of year and occasion in which it was created for.In my camera bag
My phone is the only item I currently use. I do not own any camera equipment...yet. I purchased a very nice Canon camera approximately a month ago and had to return it, because it wouldn't turn on at all. I was very disappointed, as that was the first camera I would've owned since my interest in photography was sparked. Because the store I purchased it from did not do exchanges, I had to wait for the money to be refunded back to my card. Unfortunately, I have not been able to make it back to another store for a new camera. I suppose, if I'm lucky and continue to post great photos, I could possibly win one from Viewbug soon!Feedback
When capturing special moments, always have fun and remember to cherish the opportunities you do have. Do not dwell on the things you do not have, because life is too short to consume yourself and allow others to see you being consumed by negative energies. I recently learned that sadness is a sister emotion to doubt and worry. I couldn't understand this at first. Then I realized it is because the joy that you project (or that you had the potential to project) is not only stolen from yourself, but it is also stolen from those around you that see you in that state of emotion. That being said, every opportunity given to you in life should be taken with gratitude and filled with joy.
