Behind The Lens

Location

This photo, which is one of my favorites, was shot in my hometown Karlsruhe at an open space with beautiful large white marble sculptures.

Time

It was a sunny dreamy afternoon to sunset. I wanted to capture this vibe in my shots.

Lighting

For my part, I love working with sunlight because it's your best teacher and you always have to adapt for the best results. It just adds more realism and authenticity to my photos.

Equipment

I used a Sony A7 Mark III with a Sony 85mm 1.8 lens.

Inspiration

I saw the marble sculptures and how smoothly they are built. The first instinct is to touch it and feel the surface. I encouraged the model to feel free positioning on the sculpture and taking the dreamy sunny vibe in to create this beautiful shot.

Editing

I cut out some branches, which where hanging in the picture from the right corner and did a slightly retouch on the skin. But not too much.

In my camera bag

My cam, two lenses and some cleaning tools with 1-2 batteries. Less is more.

Feedback

Every photo needs its own frame and it depends on what you see at that moment of capturing your motive. Try to feel the surrounding, the light, movements and the photo before it is shot. Get a feeling for what you want and then thrive for it.
