Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in all shattered power plant with natural light coming in through their large windows. The model is an actual cowboy. Using early morning light. It’s about 10 o’clock in the morning. And were using window light in an old deserted power plant. The power plant is halfway between Albuquerque and Santa Fe New Mexico.

Time

It’s about 10 o’clock in the morning. And were using window light in an old deserted power plant.

Lighting

The windows are extremely large and the facility is Caverness so we were able to move back into the facilities to creating a very intense one sided light.

Equipment

I am using my Nikon D850 on a tripod With a Tamron 24-79 F2

Inspiration

The photo of the cowboy is part of a series on the west that I’ve been working on for the last year. It is both portrait and landscapes that I will then put in a book. If features both black-and-white and color. I grew up in the west with Cowboys and western landscape

Editing

The digital image was processed in Lightroom and Photoshop.

In my camera bag

I use Nikon. Depending how I’m traveling I have my Nikon D850 and Z7. On the Nikon D8 50 I always have the Tamron 24 to 70 F28 and Zeiss ZEISS Distagon 3.5 for Z7 z 35 Nnn 1.8 and z 24-70/4 - Extra batteries extra cards and filters if needed.

Feedback

Always the right model, lighting, natural lighting and the right camera and lens. Extra shots so you have plenty of material to work with and post processing
