Location
This photo was taken in near Karasjok in Northern Norway close to the Finnish border. We had the chance to follow a reindeer herder and stay for almost 2 hours with his herd.Time
It was in the afternoon. But the most important here is that it was early February and that far up North the light is just magical. The afternoon is an never ending golden hour moment.Lighting
I wanted to emphasise on the warm colours of the low sun in contrast with the cold elements around us.Equipment
This image was shot on an Nikon D610 and Nikon 14-24mm lens.Inspiration
We arranged for a trip with the reindeer herder in order to encounter the reindeer on the plateau. I love to photograph animals in the wild. When I saw the clouds and the setting sun I arranged to have shot of one animal in front and the golden sunset in the backgroundEditing
Here I did the post processing in Adobe Lightroom (as 80% of my images). It mostly involved adjustments in colour and lightIn my camera bag
I usually have my Nikon Z6 and a 24-200mm lens in my bag. This is on usual days at home. When I’m on a dive trip the Nikon 8-16 mm fisheye lens for wide angle and the 60 mm macro for underwater images are my favourites. A GoPro is always part of the kit.Feedback
Be patient. Observe the surroundings of the first 15 minutes. Then walk around and check different angles and views. In this kind of environment the weather changes quickly so be prepared to readjust. Dress up in warm clothes and bring warm gloves;)
