Behind The Lens
Location
This image was taken in front of some new architecture in Bossier City, LA.Time
This was taken about 4:45, right before sunset in late fall.Lighting
This was done natural night, right before a light painting session my husband was doing for @gbmodernphotoart of this owner's prize winning Corvette. It's my job to grab some detail shots and portraits of the car owner before the session starts. I sometimes shoot the portraits with the 90mm since I have that on my camera body doing the detail images. This building was too cool not include behind the car, so I changed to the 50mm ( my go to ) to grab the entire scene.Equipment

Being a portrait photographer is something I take seriously and telling someone's story is of the utmost importance. Lee Simmons was injured in a major wreck and it took him 18 months to recover. This car is his pride and joy and his passion for tinkering on cars helped him get out of bed on days he didn't think he could. With my husband's lightpainting sessions, a client gets an amazing image of their blood, sweat and passion and I'm there to make sure there's a befitting portrait of them with that whip. We spend time together discussing and getting to know them before I pull the trigger. I want the emotion and attitude to be true to their personality and style.Editing
Lightroom and Photoshop for every image. Settings were 3.2 at 1/125 ISO 200 Color grading in Lightroom. High Pass on the car and building only in Photoshop. Portrait retouching in Photoshop. In my camera bag

Don't wait too late in the golden hour to have to increase your ISO. I still had enough light to shoot at 3.2 and only bump to ISO 200. I typically am all about OCF. There are times when it's not possible and this is one of those times. I love to shoot wide open, so I do use OCF and HSS to get the look I need.
