Location
This image was taken overlooking Bracebridge Pool in Sutton Park.Time
It was taken in the early afternoon late in November and I remember having to walk through a very muddy woodland to capture it. I have visited the location many times and I knew how I wanted to capture this, but finding the perfect spot for the composition was awkward. I ended up trying to balance the tripod on a muddy ledge surrounded by tree roots.Lighting
The highlights and shadows provided a huge dynamic range, which encouraged me to think carefully about how to shoot.Equipment
My trusty Canon 1Ds Mark 3 and a 17-40mm f/4 L lens, mounted on a Manfrotto tripod were the main tools for this shot.Inspiration
I was inspired by regular visits to Sutton Park where the scenery changes so much throughout the year.Editing
With an image like this it is important to consider the dynamic range of the scene. To ensure the lighting, contrast and colour balance were right I bracketed three exposures and combined them in Adobe Lightroom. In my camera bag
Three Canon camera bodies; 1Ds Mark 3 and 5D classic for stills, and 600D for recording video. 17-40mm, 18-55mm, 70-300mm and 50mm lenses.Feedback
