Location
This photo was taken on a walk through streets of New York nearby the famous Times Square. It was on my first visit to this incredible city.Time
It was on a rainy afternoon. The rain und the clouds created some mystic atmosphere, so took my rain jacket and a waterproof cover for my backpack and went out for a walk.Lighting
I wanted to create some mystic, unique atmosphere. I visited this place on a day before and already knew the location. And I knew about lights and advertising panels. In this particular image I wanted to use reflections from the puddles to create even more depth and mystic. And I wanted a person in my shop. To create even more of this Blade Runner atmosphere. I spend around 20 minutes kneeling down at that puddle waiting for the perfect shot.Equipment
This was shot on Sony A7 III and 24-105 lens. No other equipment.Inspiration
As I said - Blade Runner movie. I wanted to recreate this mystic rainy atmosphere using the lights, reflections and myst. I think, this movie (especially the original from 1982) is a visual masterpiece.Editing
Not really. This photo came already out of the camera as a it is. I just fixed the horizon line and added some more contrast. Thats all.In my camera bag
Normally, I have my Sony A7 III camera with 24-105 as most versatile lens. And also a 55mm f1.8 lens especially for street portraits. This is my setup for street photography. When I hike, I take my tripod and a 17-28 lens for wide landscape shots. I often take my drone. But rarely use it :)Feedback
Go out at any weather conditions and look out for your surroundings. Use light, reflections, fog and rain to add atmosphere to your photos and create unique image. Often, just some change of the view angle can help you to produce something special.
