Location
This photo was taken on the beach in Scheveningen, a coastal town in the Netherlands. The beach is always a photogenic place. You can fully enjoy the space, views, rolling waves and turbulent clouds.Time
Each time point has its own dynamics. This photo was taken in the afternoon.Lighting
Because the weather was heavy, there was a lot of movement of clouds in the sky. Due to these rapid changes, it is important to be alert and to follow the movements as closely as possible. The exposure is also constantly changing. From heavy clouds to a low hanging bright breaking sun.Equipment
I took this photo with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, with the following settings Aperture: f / 11, ISO: 200, Shutter: 1/500, Focal length: 24/1.Inspiration

When I go out, I always have my camera on standby. It is then a matter of observing, choosing the right lens, looking for a good composition, choosing the right setting and then printing. I always check whether the image is what I have in mind. I made 3 extra shots with different horizon heights. With a short focal length, this often has a relevant influence on the result. In my camera bag

My bag was stocked as standard with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II, my 24/70 lens and my 100/400 lens. I have now replaced this with a Sony a7R IV, Sony FE 24-240mm F3.5-6.3 OSS and a Sony FE 200-600mm F5.6-6.3 G OSS When photographing a landscape I always try to pay attention to big and small things. I always look around me, left to right, front to back, up and down. I am not looking for anything specific but am open to everything. The composition is the most important element of the photo for me. It carries the image and determines its field of tension. Color and sharpness are variables that guide and contribute to atmosphere and emotion.Feedback
