My mum's ancestors lived here. Her great granny was Hannah Grundy Sanderson and research suggests she was related to the poor young girl who ghost is reputed to still walk the beach.

In April, 1807, a young Hannah Grundy was walking along the beach at Staithes. When she bent down to look at something amongst the pebbles there was a cliff fall and a sharp piece of rock, loosened by storms, fell and decapitated her.

They say the ghost of Hannah Grundy still walks the beach; a rather transparent figure, looking at the stones on the sea-front.
