Behind The Lens
Location
Photo taken in our garden, Johannesburg South Africa.Time
I am working from home during the pandemic and one has to take a coffee/photo break sometimes. This particular photo was taken at 15:00 local time.Lighting
I wanted a muted blurred background and this photo has some light on the front of the bird lighting the subject but the background has larger trees and therefore the even dark green blurred background.Equipment
This shot was taken with the Canon EOS R5 camera with the Canon EF500mm f/4L IS II +2x converter to give 1000mm. The whole was on a tripod for stability.Inspiration
During Covid-19 lock down we cannot really get out to take photos. We have lots of birds in our garden which I practice on and it goes without saying it is not the easiest subjects. Challenges accepted and I think I am already improving.Editing
I shoot RAW and did the normal Lightroom processing & then I further did more sharpen in Topaz Sharpen AiIn my camera bag
I now use the Canon R5 with the EF converter as I own a few good pieces of glass. Mostly fast L grade lenses. My goto lens is the 35-70mm 2.8 however for sport and wildlife I use the 70-200mm and the 500mm f2.8.Feedback
Look at the real bird photographers' work, on Viewbug & also get their books, articles and videos. There are a lot of really good people that share their skills and art.
